Finally an update!

So, it's been eighteen months since anyone has bothered to update the site – a travesty that can only be blamed on lack of interest and a lazy author. Interestingly enough, the time span seems to coincide with the re-emergence of home ownership. For the past year and a half it's been “shall I paint a room or update the web page; fix the leaky roof or update the web page; build a putting green or update the web page” - anyhow, you get the idea. A few years back this task was fun – a novel way to brag about exploits in the mountains, show pictures of the kids, and create an image of a carefree roustabout. I also used to get feedback on each issue complementing wit, sarcasm, and grammatical errors (thanks Matt). Somehow, the task got stale and the events pictured never changed. Three years of the Boulder Kinetics, the state fair, cardboard derby, and hikes up 14 teeners is hardly the fare to keep viewers waiting with baited breath. No one (except for Samara – which gives me concern about her stability) has requested an update – the gentle begging coupled with praise of previous pages would have at least made me feel guilty for not expending the energy.

Why now?

I can answer that – on Monday afternoon August , 29th, Carrie and her husband John became proud parents of a 6 pound 2ounce baby boy named Beckett Matthew Myklusch. Now, that's news worth printing – and motivation to do an update. My plan is to get out pictures as they become available, catch up on some other news, and splash out a few pictures since the last update. Those of you with a keen eye will notice a bit of a format change from previous pages – astute observation on your part as I'm writing this using Open Office -a free set of tools (spreadsheets, powerpoint, word processing etc) that will hopefully make Microsoft an obsolete monopoly.
